Elias G. Carayannis is Professor of Science, Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the George Washington University School of Business. He is also Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Global and Entrepreneurial Finance Research Institute and Director of the European Union Research Center. In addition, he serves as Senior Visiting Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the National Technical University of Athens and Leipzig University, as well as Senior Scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute.

His teaching and research focus on strategic government–university–industry partnerships, technology transfer and commercialization, technological entrepreneurship, international science and technology policy, and regional economic development.

Dr. Carayannis is internationally recognized for his contributions to the Mode 3 Knowledge Production System and the Quadruple and Quintuple Helix Innovation Models, which examine the interactions among universities, industry, government, civil society and the natural environment in the development of sustainable innovation ecosystems. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 academic publications and has held editorial leadership roles in international journals and book series focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship and the knowledge economy.

His research has achieved substantial international impact, with his Google Scholar profile recording more than 35,000 citations and an h-index exceeding 80.
